The Netherlands Journal of Critical Care (Neth. J. Crit. Care) has historically been published biannually, with two issues per year.

For the years 2023, 2024, and 2025, the journal published two issues annually in accordance with its previous publication schedule.

Beginning in 2026, the journal has adopted a quarterly publication schedule, with four issues per year. This change is intended to provide more frequent opportunities for the dissemination of high-quality scholarly research in the field of critical care medicine and related disciplines.

From 2026 onward, the journal's four annual issues will generally be published according to the following schedule:

• Issue 1: January–March
• Issue 2: April–June
• Issue 3: July–September
• Issue 4: October–December

All manuscripts remain subject to the journal's editorial assessment, peer-review, revision, proofreading, and production procedures before publication.
