Advertising Policy

The Netherlands Journal of Critical Care (Neth. J. Crit. Care) is committed to maintaining editorial independence, academic integrity, and transparency in all aspects of its publishing activities. Any advertising or promotional content associated with the journal must remain separate from editorial decision-making and must not influence the content, peer-review process, or publication decisions.

Acceptance of Advertisements

The journal may accept advertisements or promotional content that are relevant to its readership and consistent with the journal's academic and professional standards. All advertisements are subject to review and approval by the journal.

The journal reserves the right to reject or remove any advertisement that is considered inappropriate, misleading, unethical, unlawful, or inconsistent with the journal's policies.

Editorial Independence

Advertising decisions are completely separate from editorial decisions. Advertisers have no influence over:

  • Manuscript acceptance or rejection
  • Peer-review decisions
  • Editorial content
  • Reviewer selection
  • Publication scheduling
  • Corrections, retractions, or other editorial actions

Acceptance of an advertisement does not constitute endorsement of the advertised product, service, organization, or claim by the journal or its editorial team.

Accuracy and Responsibility

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that their advertisements are accurate, lawful, and supported by appropriate evidence where applicable. Advertisements must not contain false, misleading, discriminatory, defamatory, or deceptive claims.

Medical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or scientific advertisements must comply with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.

Separation from Editorial Content

Advertising content will be clearly distinguishable from scholarly and editorial content. Advertisements will not be presented in a manner that could reasonably be mistaken for an independently reviewed research article, editorial, or other journal content.

Prohibited Advertising

The journal does not accept advertisements that:

  • Promote illegal or fraudulent activities
  • Contain misleading or unsubstantiated claims
  • Conflict with applicable laws or ethical standards
  • Contain discriminatory, defamatory, or offensive material
  • Attempt to influence editorial decisions
  • Compromise the scientific or academic integrity of the journal
  • Promote products or services that are inappropriate for the journal's professional audience

Right to Refuse or Remove Advertising

The Netherlands Journal of Critical Care reserves the right to refuse, modify, suspend, or remove any advertisement at its discretion if it does not comply with this policy or if its continued publication could compromise the journal's reputation, independence, or ethical standards.

Conflict of Interest

Where applicable, advertising arrangements will be managed in a manner that minimizes actual or perceived conflicts of interest. Financial or commercial relationships related to advertising will not influence editorial decisions.

Policy Updates

The journal may periodically update this Advertising Policy to reflect changes in applicable laws, ethical standards, publishing practices, or advertising arrangements.
